This week, we completed our group children's literature project. We first had to decide what book we were going to use. Some of our group members brought books into class for us to decide what would work best. We decided to use World World what can I do. We complete the project in three parts. We first decided what book we wanted to use and then we had to figure out what melody we wanted to use with the song "World, World, What Can I do? We decide to use skip to my lou as our melody. After decided the basics for our project, we then had to meet outside of the class to write our lesson plan. We met to write the lesson plan and each person had a job that went along with the lesson plan. We each decide jobs to let everyone get a chance to participate. Then in class, we reviewed what we had written practiced our lesson plan and prepared for the presentation. In this particular lesson, we were teaching children about how the cna help the enviornment. Our book also incorporated the enviornment and things people can do to help the community. The students were learning about different things that people did in the community to help one another out. We then talked to the students about things they can do to help their enviornment out. Students said things like recycle, turn lights off, turn water off when brushing your teeth, pick up trash, etc. Students were then asked to do something to help the environment. I think students can take away knowledge about these things and use them not only in music but in the outside world. Students also learned songs to go along with the story, and also played instruments to different objects in the community. So they learned music skills while still incorporating science. The fun part of this project was seeing everyones different ideas and using these different ideas to write and create a lesson plan. The difficult part was trying to find a time that everyone could meet. It was difficult because everyone has different schedules and it tough to find a time to meet. We managed to find a time that everyone could meet but it took time. I enjoyed presenting a lesson plan with the group because it makes the lessons stronger and you get ideas from others that you would have never thought. I enjoyed working with the group and feel we worked very well together!
