Hi my name is Cindy Czarnik and I am a sophomore. I have an older brother who is currently a senior attending The University of Evansville in Indiana. Ever since I was a little kid I loved music. Although I have never played an instrument I always loved singing and tried to be as involved with that as I could. From second until fifth grade I was apart of the church choir. I loved singing in my church choir because it was the first time that I was able to expereince singing with a group and being a part of something special. I was not involved in singing while in middle school but I always wanted to get back into it so during my high school career I started singing with the choir again my sophomore year and contunied till I graduated high school. I remember at my high school graduation singing our senior song, " Goodbye Old Friends." I felt like this was a very emotional expereience for all of us becuase we had been a part this group for so long and now it was time to end but we would never forget all that we shared. Like most, I have an ipod that I love listening to. I used to love listening to it before I went to sleep but I got scared away from that when someone told me that the cord could wrap around me while I was sleeping. So no more of that. I listened to it while I was on the bus to and from school or when the family was going on a trip. My ipod has over 500 songs on it and it is really a variety of songs. There are many different genres that I love listening to such as pop, R&B, oldies, and most of all Country music. Some of my favorite artists include Michal Bublee, Lady Antebellum, Kenney Chesney, and Taylor Swift. Although I hope to further my music knowledge that is my music history up until now.
When I first came into this class I was expecting it to be a very group based class with each person helping out other people in the class. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about singing in front of the class yet becuase for me it is a new experience and I have never done that before. I thought that the exercises were really informative and gave me an idea about what I could do with my classrooms. However, I also feel like they came along to quickly. Not to say that it was a bad thing that we were thrown in right away but we didn't really have a chance to adjust to this new enviornment. I'm interested to continue and gain new ideas from this class. I am hopeing to find alternative ways to be able to engage my class and keep them interested in the material. I also hope to have a better understanding of music for elementary education becuase I believe that it is importnat to the children to have music in their lives. I am looking forward to the rest of the semester and hope that we have a great time.
